Nina, I was sorry to hear of Tom's passing, just after I'd been down in St Pete to perform the wedding of Jim McConnell III on Feb. 18. Katie came with me, and we saw a bunch of former-Pasadena folks in a whirlwind 2-day stay. I returned only to leave for Asheville the next Friday for the birth of Addison, my wife Pamela's only child's first (and only, we suspect) daughter - that makes 9. (Callie's oldest, our first, will be 15 in June). Andrew and Callie are in Oregon, where Katie is headed in December.
I stayed with Ansel (Greensboro, NC) on the way home from Addison's birth, and we spent some time reminiscing about our Talbert-Sweet connection... especially Beth's and my steak dinner "restoration" with you two before we had to take her to Houston. That evening helped to heal a deep misunderstanding about y'all's disappearance from Pasadena and our lives, but I guess our kids never really reaped the benefits of that healing. For us, though, that dinner re-awakened the great memories we had of "the former times" at your beach condo, and the laughter and joy of watching our kids grow up before our eyes.
II hope you are well, and I'd love to hear how the boys are doing, whenever it's convenient. I'm still pastoring at Kingston Presbyterian Church in Conway, SC, and am on Facebook, or you can call me at 843-333-3038. Rhett Talbert

Tommy Sweet was my friend. He was a couple of years older, but he sort of let me run with the older guys. In high School that's a pretty big deal. When he got a Corvair Monza and fitted it out to a tee, I had to have one too. We would race around the hundred lakes like we were the great European LeMans drivers. We both had custom exhaust systems which terrorized the neighborhood. His parents took all his friends over to the beach one weekend and we'll,nevermind. I will miss Sweet Tom.
