Obituary of Donald G. Hilts

Hilts, Donald G. 82, passed away Nov. 23, 2010 at home under the care of Suncoast Hospice. Don was born Schenectady, NY and moved to St. Petersburg in 1989. He retired from General Electric with 42 years of continuous service. He graduated from Woestina High School in Rotterdam Junction, NY. Don also served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict on the SS Missouri as a radio operator. He was a 50 year member of Schenectady Lodge #1174 F&AM, Oriental #5 Shrine AAONMS in Troy, NY. He served as Past Patron Bethlehem #169 OES, and was a member of the Seminole Elks #2519 and American Legion Post #273, Madeira Beach. Don is survived by his wife of 55 years Doreen and daughters Deirdre Grimes of Schenectady, NY and Denise Hilts of Seminole. Also grandchildren Darrel and Dan Bielawski of NY, Wendy Grimes of Indian Rocks Beach, Megan Aldridge of Seminole, and Audrey and Lyndsay Grimes of Schenectady, NY. The family would like to thank the employees of Suncoast Hospice for their caring support. A memorial service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Thursday December 2 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice and Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa.
