Obituary of Russell Kevin Strickland

Russell Kevin "Buddy" Strickland, 59, of Pinellas Park, Florida passed away August 22, 2023. He was born on June 27,1964 in Tampa, Florida to Paul and Jeanette Strickland.

Russell, born with Down Syndrome, was a compassionate and caring soul that loved to sing and dance and always aimed to put a smile on everyone's face. He was an artist and was never shy to pass along one of his drawings. Russell was passionate about WWE Wrestling and his University of Alabama football team.

During Russell's youth he proudly participated in the Special Olympics and received multiple recognitions, medals, and trophies.

He was preceded in death by parents Paul and Jeanette, siblings Ronnie, Elaine, Ricky, and Pam.

Russell is survived and loved by his two sisters Myra and Paula, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, caregivers and friends.

The family will receive friends at Reese Funeral Home on Wednesday August 30th, 2023 at 9:30am, funeral services will soon follow at 10:00am. A graveside service will be at Florida National Cemetery on Thursday August 31, 2023 at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics, Ruby Group Home, and Empath Hospice.
