Obituary of Tomilea L. Dixon

Tomilea Lovell Dixon, 80, of Seminole passed away August 2, 2023, at Morton Plant Hospital.  Born in Abilene, Texas and raised in Norris, Tennessee, she called Decatur, Georgia home for more than fifty years before moving to Seminole in 2016.  Preceded in death by her parents, Reg and Betty Lovell, Tomi is survived by her loving husband, Chester Dixon; her siblings Denis (Anne) Lovell, Kathy (George) Wallis, and Cris (Parker) Whitlock; sons Michael Hall and James Burnham III, daughter-in-law Christina Locke; and her grandsons James and Bry Burnham.  Tomi was a dedicated teacher for more than forty years and maintained contact with many of her students and celebrated their accomplishments long after they left her classroom.  Tomi loved to travel and explore new places or meet new people and she and Chester enjoyed trips to places like Cuba, Alaska, and Australia during some of their many adventures together.  Taught at a young age, Tomi was a lifelong Cribbage player and shared many stories and lots of family time while counting 15’s and 31’s and moving pegs on the board.  A devoted animal lover, Tomi had a particular soft spot for adopting dogs from animal shelters and showering them with attention for as long as she could.  Tomi’s bright smile, and infectious laugh will be missed by all who loved her.  Tomi’s memorial service will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at E. James Reese Funeral Home in Seminole Florida starting at 11:30am before her interment at Bay Pines National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Pinellas County.  Please visit the family’s personalized online
